Let’s Pack Up!

Medium: Durational Performance to camera

Let’s Pack Up!— the exact words my dad told me when we decided to leave Muscat, Oman, a place I called home for twenty years. Growing up as an immigrant, I’ve been habituated to condense my life and the memories I’ve made into the smallest units possible. The act of packing is synonymous with that immigrant experience and this performance captures it. Being with these objects around me, interacting with them and finally condensing them into the these boxes is a ritual I’ve done all my life and this piece documents this ritual.
