Human Canvas #4: Nizhalai Thedum Nijam

Medium: Acrylic Painting on Canvas

Dimensions: 36” x 36”

Statement: My identity as an immigrant has always been conflicting. No place to call home, yet every place feels like home. Out of every question ever asked about me, “where are you from?” always seemed daunting. Whether I like it or not, my identity is diverse, my identity is political.

Since his creation, the Human Canvas has been my only companion through thick and thin. As an accurate representation of myself, he helps me deal with these conflicting identities. Without him, I’m just a truth made out of flesh and blood, looking for my shadow.
